Celebrate Food Rescue hero’s #WorldFoodDay
Anyone working in Food Rescue is a Hero in my eyes and so many others, I remember when I was 18 (close to 30 years ago now) new in the hospitality industry seeing so much food waste, it was never discussed or even a topic heard of to address the food I was seeing wasted on a daily basis in just one supermarket ….. memories of looking through rubbish bins as a 5 year old being Hungry. experiencing poverty and seeing a need at that moment I knew In my heart that someday i was going to make a difference
Alongside all Food Rescue Heros We are grateful for the amazing support other Food Rescue organization’s have provided us, In Auckland KiwiHarvest, Fair Food and Auckland City Mission have all been a huge support to helping us help others feeding the need.
We have seen more organization’s collecting food to help provide for their communities & its great to see even churches joining together to form food banks there is clear need that Food Rescue is needed all over NZ and Food Rescue organizations have had an extremely busy year collecting as much food we can to help provide for people in need during some very difficult times. its times like this we all need to be working together
